El país a espera de recibir hoy un millón de vacunas

Santo Domingo, RD.- Aunque hasta el momen­to no existe ninguna con­firmación oficial, Repúbli­ca Dominicana estaría a la espera de la llegada hoy de un lote de un millón de dosis de la vacuna Coro­naVac, de la empresa Chi­na, Sinovac.

Esto partiendo del anuncio hecho por el Go­bierno dominicano de que el día 15 de este mes es­taría llegando a territorio dominicano un millón de dosis de la vacuna de Si­novac y que el día 25, tam­bién de marzo, llegaría un segundo lote de la misma cantidad, para completar dos millones de dosis de la vacuna China.

Con esa misma empre­sa asiática se habría con­tratado ocho millones de dosis de vacunas, por lo que el presidente Luis Abi­nader anunció, el 27 de fe­brero pasado, de que a fi­nales de junio de este año el país tendría el 80% de su población vacunada.

El pasado 23 de febre­ro el país recibió un car­gamento de 768,000 va­cunas contra el Covid-19 procedente de China que junto a 50,000 dosis de la Covishiel, de la India, que ya estaban en el país, se dio inicio al proceso de vacuna­ción, que hasta el miércoles de la semana pasada había abarcado a 606,006 perso­nas con una primera dosis.

El Gobierno anunció que la segunda dosis empezaría aplicarse a partir del 24 de este mes. Este fin de semana la vicepresidenta de la Repú­blica aseguró que guardaron una cantidad de vacunas del primer lote para aplicar la se­gunda dosis a aquellas perso­nas que ya se vacunaron en primera instancia.

Se frenó el proceso

El plan de vacunación con­tra el Covid-19 inició el 16 de febrero con el personal de salud que trabaja en pri­mera línea o en los hospita­les Covid, posteriormente se extendió a todo el personal de salud, profesores y adultos mayores, quienes acudieron con entusiasmo y de forma masiva a los pues­tos de vacunación.

Además de los puestos de la red pública, al proceso se unieron también centros de salud e instituciones priva­das, entre ellas universida­des, que abrieron centros de vacunación en sus insta­laciones.

No obstante, la semana pasada el Gobierno anunció que desde el viernes pasa­do hasta el próximo viernes, que la vacunación se aplica­ría solamente por citas he­cha a través de la platafor­ma Vacunaterd.gob.do, con el propósito de dar tiempo a la llegada de más dosis y pa­ra que el personal que trabaja en los puestos de vacunación pueda recargar energía, de acuerdo a lo dicho por la vi­cepresidenta de la República y coordinadora del Gabinete de Salud, Raquel Peña.

80% de la población
En su discurso del pasado 27 de febrero ante la Asamblea Nacional, el presidente de la República informó que con­trató ocho millones de vacu­na con la farmacéutica china Sinovac que llegarán al país entre abril y mayo, por lo que espera que a finales de junio se tenga vacunada el 80 por ciento de la población domi­nicana.

EL PLAN
Vacunación por fases
El país tiene planificado inmunizar a 7.8 millones de personas con mayoría de edad, por lo que se va a necesitar 15.6 millones de dosis. Inicialmente el Gobierno había informado que contrató 10 millones de dosis con las empresas AstraZéneca y 7.9 millones con Pfizer, pero hasta ahora no ha recibido ninguna dosis de esas farmacéuticas.
