Los hospitales están bien suplidos por Promese

Santo Domingo, RD.- De cada 10 medicamentos que se indican en la red pública, ocho son suplidos en las farmacias hospitalarias a través del Programa de Medicamentos Esenciales (PROMESE/CAL), mientras cada año cerca de seis millones de personas se benefician de compras de las medicinas a bajos precios que ofrece ese organismo estatal.

En tanto, la pandemia de Covid-19 llevó a Promese a ampliar su gama de productos, introduciendo insumos como mascarillas de las que se han comprado unos 12 millones de unidades y los trajes de bioseguridad para el personal de salud con la adquisición de unas 400,000 unidades.

Los detalles fueron ofrecidos por Adolfo Pérez, director de Promese, dijo que sólo en las Farmacias del Pueblo se benefician 3.5 millones de personas y que si a eso se suman las farmacias hospitalarias, el total de beneficiarios alcanza los seis millones.

Pérez aseguró que al 17 de agosto pasado el nivel de abastecimiento de los hospitales públicos oscilaba en un 57% y que en la actualidad anda por el 80%. “Eso quiere decir que de 10 medicamentos que usted solicita en un hospital público, solo dos no están, y anteriormente de cada 10 solicitados, cinco no estaban. La meta es llevarlo por encima de un 90%”, señaló.

Cuadro Básico
Ese organismo estatal, de acuerdo a Pérez, dispensa los productos contenidos en el cuadro básico de medicamentos y a través de las Farmacias del Pueblo que venden al año unos 1,100 millones de pesos, 90 millones al mes, y factura al mes 1,600 millones de pesos a las farmacias hospitalarias. Suple unos 400 tipos de medicamentos distintos.

Destacó que durante los nueve meses de la pandemia del Covid-19, Promese se ha mantenido jugando su papel fundamental que es el de suplir medicamentos esenciales a la población sin que se hayan presentado desabastos. “Desde que llegamos al cargo, en el mes de agosto, hemos trabajado intensamente para mejorar el abastecimiento para que la gente cuando vaya a buscar el medicamento o insumo lo encuentre disponible”, aseguró el director de Promese.

Los medicamentos que la población más está demandando en las farmacias de Promese son los productos para la fiebre como el acetaminofén, para afecciones respiratorias y vitamina C, entre otros.

Ahorros en compras Pérez explicó que se han hecho varios procesos de licitación, adquiriendo recientemente 10 millones de mascarillas quirúrgicas compradas a un precio promedio de cuatro pesos, mientras en el pasado se compraban a 55 pesos la unidad, lo que permitió un ahorro de 510 millones de pesos sólo en ese rubro y que mascarillas KN95 se adquirieron dos millones.

Al menos cuatro pacientes más ingresaron en las últimas horas a requerir cuidados intensivos por Covid en la red de centros bajo monitoreo de las autoridades sanitarias, al reportarse ayer 191 personas ocupando camas de UCI, equivalente a 43%, mientras el informe del día anterior registraba 187 pacientes y una ocupación de camas de 42%. En tanto, 815 pacientes estaban ingresados en cuidados intermedios en salas hospitalarias regulares destinadas a la atención de pacientes con el virus para una ocupación del 29% de las camas Covid. El día anterior los pacientes ingresados en esta área eran 807. Los pacientes en ventilación registraron una ligera disminución al pasar de 112 el día anterior a 110 en el boletín 263 emitido ayer por Epidemiología del Ministerio de Salud Pública.
