Unión de Farmacias advierte nuevos impuestos afectaría acceso a medicamentos

SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana. – La Unión de Farmacias advirtió que establecer nuevos impuestos a sectores con «ganancias extraordinarias» como contempla la propuesta de presupuesto 2021, podría afectar el acceso a medicamentos y a su vez la salud de la población.

La entidad que agrupa a alrededor de mil farmacias del país, dijo que para garantizar el servicio durante la pandemia del Covid-19 ha multiplicado sus costos, operando con horarios y ventas reducidas. “La Unión de Farmacias está preocupada porque, a pesar de haber estado en primera línea sirviendo a la población con medicamentos confiables en un tiempo de pandemia, se le quiere penalizar con nuevos impuestos”, indicó Scarlet Sánchez, directora ejecutiva de la organización.

El proyecto de Presupuesto General de la Nación para el 2021 incluye en su artículo 31 un impuesto temporal de un 8% a las empresas con ganancias extraordinarias durante el estado de emergencia, entre las que se podrían incluir las farmacéuticas y los supermercados.

“La realidad es que el sector que representa, para garantizar el servicio, ha multiplicado sus costos, operado con horario y ventas, que se han visto reducidas considerablemente”, sostuvo. Consideró que se debe ser cautelosos con las medidas que se vayan a tomar para no afectar el acceso a medicamentos y, por tanto, a la salud.

El proyecto de presupuesto presentado el pasado jueves, incluye unas medidas basada en la obtención de recursos mediante el consumo, afectando el comercio electrónico y gravando con un 8% las ganancias de empresas que se presume obtuvieron grandes ganancias durante la pandemia.

A raíz del conocimiento de los posibles nuevos impuestos que generaron diversas críticas, el presidente Luis Abinader aseguró que serán «consensuados con la población”, y «transitorios» aplicados únicamente en el año 2021.
