Indotel anuncia nuevas inversiones para mejorar la conectividad a internet

El Presidente del Consejo Directivo del Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (Indotel), Nelson Arroyo, anunció que en los próximos meses se invertirán de 25 a 30 millones de pesos mensuales para la creación de proyectos  de desarrollo y de esta forma mejorar la conectividad del internet.  

Indicó que en coordinación con la  Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica Dominicana (ETED) se está trabajando en una red troncal  que permitirá  conectar el país a través de fibra óptica, con el objetivo de que el internet llegue a los lugares más apartados del país.   

Expresó que dando seguimiento al decreto presidencial 539-20 se está trabajando en la licitación para el despliegue de la tecnología 5G para que la República Dominicana pueda ser uno de los países que esté a la vanguardia de esta tecnología, lo que permitirá mayor conectividad y velocidad en el servicio.  

“Por primera vez el aspecto conectividad es un  derecho fundamental que hay que aplicar para, lo cual se está trabajando de manera con conjunta con las prestadoras.” Indicó.  

El titular del Indotel, manifestó que su gestión está enfocada en mejorar los procesos con los usuarios de los servicios públicos de telecomunicaciones. 

Durante su participación en el  programa radial el Sol de la Mañana, indicó que con el ahorro interno que se ha logrado en solo dos meses de gestión, se empezará a cumplir con los proveedores de servicios que tenían hasta un año que no se les pagaba.  

Sobre el tema de las emisoras ilegales reiteró que serán cerradas todas las que estén operando de forma ilegal, lo que contribuirá con el objetivo de llevar el sector a la legalidad y  luego de este proceso serán adecuadas las estaciones a la nueva ley General de Telecomunicaciones.
