CAASD supera meta en producción de agua gracias a las lluvias

SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana.- La Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) alcanzó una producción de 421 millones de galones de agua potable por día gracias a los aguaceros de esta última semana que han favorecido los niveles de las fuentes hídricas que suplen a sus sistemas.

El director general de la CAASD, ingeniero Felipe Suberví, informó que en condiciones normales la producción meta había sido de 420 millones de galones diarios, cifra ya rebasada.

Además, resaltó que el servicio al Gran Santo Domingo «se brinda con normalidad, se mantiene estable y con buenas proyecciones».

“Esta es una producción excelente. Nuestros acueductos hoy día operan a plena capacidad porque los ríos Nizao, Haina, Ozama, Isabela, Isa y Duey han mantenido sus caudales con buenos niveles, gracias a las lluvias en sus cuencas”, reiteró.

El agua en la presa de Jigüey está en la cota (altura) 538.17 metros sobre el nivel medio del mar (MSNM), cuya máxima es de 541.50 MSNM. “Sólo le faltan 3.33 metros para que empiece a soltar líquido por su vertedero libre”, añadió.

Asimismo, la presa de Valdesia se ubica en la cota 148.69 MSNM, de una máxima de 150 MSNM. “Es decir, que sólo nos faltan 1.31 metros para que esta presa llegue a su nivel de rebose”, prosiguió el funcionario.

“En esta época el nivel máximo permitido para este embalse es el que tenemos ahora, debido a que el Manual de Operación de Presas establece que debemos mantener cierta capacidad de almacenamiento porque todavía estamos en temporada ciclónica y podría presentarse un evento que genere muchas lluvias”, advirtió Suberví.

Ambas se alimentan del río Nizao y suplen al acueducto Valdesia Santo Domingo, principal sistema de agua potable para el Distrito Nacional.

El caudal promedio del río Nizao se mantuvo esta última semana en alrededor de los 20 metros cúbicos por segundo (m³/seg) y hasta llegó a registrar picos de más de 50 m³/seg, lo que produjo un ligero aumento en los niveles de estas dos presas.

Agiliza obras para eficientizar servicios que recibe la ciudadanía

En esta última semana, los brigadistas de la CAASD ejecutaron 10,131 intervenciones en la red de alcantarillado sanitario, con el mantenimiento a 9,669 metros de líneas, mediante limpieza y reparación de redes, registros y acometidas.

Los nuevos trabajos fueron hechos en el municipio Los Alcarrizos, así como en los sectores: Guachupita, Cacique, Bella Vista, Honduras, Invivienda, El Almirante, barrio Las Enfermeras, Lotes y Servicios, 26 de enero, entre otros.

De igual modo, resolvieron 173 averías en líneas de distintos diámetros, para reducir pérdidas de agua en sectores como: Arroyo Hondo Viejo, Perantuén, Villas Agrícolas, Jardines del Norte, Buenos Aires de Herrera, San Carlos, Palavé, Mata Hambre, Los Frailes II, Los Mina, Ciudad Juan Bosch, La Victoria, Carlos Álvarez y San Felipe.

Sobre la optimización constante de sus redes, dijo que la CAASD realizó 23 desobstrucciones esta semana, trabajó en 12 válvulas y detectó fugas no visibles en distintos lugares. “Nuestras brigadas trabajan los siete días de la semana, atendiendo los reportes de los usuarios que nos llegan por nuestro Call Center, las redes sociales y otras vías.

Lo mismo ocurre con nuestro personal de Operaciones en los acueductos, donde mantenemos niveles adecuados de combustibles para nuestros generadores de emergencia y de sustancias químicas en nuestras plantas potabilizadoras para atender cualquier incremento en la turbidez de los ríos que nos abastecen”, aseguró.

Felipe Suberví, finalmente dijo: “Todo esto lo hacemos para que las operaciones no sean interrumpidas, mientras nuestro personal se mantiene atento a cualquier novedad que se presente para dar respuesta en el menor tiempo posible ante la demanda de la ciudadanía”.
