Santo Domingo. – El Centro Indotel realizó el lanzamiento de una serie de encuentros especiales denominados “Episodios de Play Ball”, que contará la historia de la primera transmisión de béisbol en la República Dominicana, de la mano de connotadas figuras de la comunicación y el ámbito deportivo.
Las voces de Elis Pérez y Osvaldo Cepeda y Cepeda, en compañía de Nelson Arroyo, presidente del Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (Indotel, narraron la historia de la radio, la televisión, y las tecnologías de la información y su incidencia en el desarrollo de los medios de comunicación en el país.
De igual modo contó con la presencia de los editores deportivos Frank Camilo y José Antonio Mena, de CDN Deportes; Vian Araujo, Kiss 94.9 fm; Héctor Gómez, de la la Z101; Laura Bonnelly, Sporty Girl, Más que Pelota.
Para este primer “Episodios de Play Ball”, el Centro Indotel produjo un audiovisual que sirvió de soporte para que los comunicadores abordarán de forma minuciosa cómo se logró la primera transmisión de un juego de béisbol en la República Dominicana en el año 1963.
Ambos veteranos compartieron entre anécdotas hechos específicos que construyeron y fundaron las bases para lograr el avance que exhiben hasta los momentos actuales lo medios locales.
Ellis Pérez enumeró parte de los obstáculos que debió superar, así como los retos que enfrentó y una vez al aire, cómo pudo cultivar la creatividad en el micrófono al hablar.
De su lado, el galardonado locutor y militar dominicano, Osvaldo Cepeda y Cepeda, quien fungía como voz comercial de los partidos de la época partidos, emitidos por radio, compartió sus experiencias tras destacar la importancia de conocer las primeras etapas de historia de los instrumentos de comunicación nacionales.
El lanzamiento de Episodios “Play Ball” estuvo encabezado por el presidente del Consejo Directivo, Nelson Arroyo, la Directora ejecutiva, Julissa Cruz; los miembros del Consejo Directivo, Hilda Patricia Polanco y Priamo Rodríguez; la Directora del Fondo de Desarrollo de las Telecomunicaciones, Amparo Arango y Neil Checo de Relaciones Internacionales.
Asimismo Franklin de la Mota, viceministro de Deportes; Nelson Marte, director de CERTV y Luis Scheker Ortiz, director de la Academia de Ciencias de la República Dominicana.

Sobre el Centro Indotel
El Centro Indotel es un espacio que rememora la historia de la telecomunicación dominicana. En sus instalaciones funcionan tres salas expositivas que a través de diversos artefactos históricos narran la evolución de la comunicación y la telecomunicación desde la prehistoria hasta la actualidad.
El edificio también alberga al Hub de Innovación y Cultura Digital, la apuesta del Indotel al emprendimiento y a la colaboración interinstitucional para crear un punto de encuentro en la comunidad como un lugar físico generador de nuevas ideas.
Actualmente se usa como escenario para la elaboración de contenidos audiovisuales en base a entrevistas y diálogos con personalidades de la innovación y el emprendimiento en las TIC.
