La corporación multinacional Colgate-Palmolive, en apoyo a la campaña de la Organización Mundial de la Salud para promover el lavado correcto de manos y prevenir la propagación de la COVID-19, donó este jueves un total de 498,000 jabones al Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD).
La empresa explicó que este producto será distribuido en varias comunidades vulnerables de República Dominicana, a través del Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (Unicef), la Organización Internacional de las Migraciones (OIM), Save The Children, La Red Iberoamericana de Entidades de Personas con Discapacidad y el Instituto Dermatológico y Cirugía de Piel (IDCP).
A través de una nota de prensa, la multinacional indicó que según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OPS/OMS), el correcto lavado de manos es esencial para reducir la velocidad de propagación del virus.
Sin embargo, la dificultad de tener acceso a jabones y la falta de conocimiento respecto a cómo lavar correctamente las manos representa un reto, en particular en muchas comunidades vulnerables alrededor del mundo.
Esta donación llevada a cabo en la República Dominicana se enmarca en un esfuerzo global de Colgate-Palmolive.
Para tales fines, la empresa habilitó cinco de sus plantas de fabricación localizadas en tres continentes con el propósito de producir 25 millones de jabones empacados especialmente con instrucciones sobre el lavado adecuado de manos y su importancia como una herramienta para reducir el contagio.
