El Ministerio de Educación Superior, Ciencia y Tecnología (MESCYT), anunció este miércoles la entrega de becas a los estudiantes del área de ingenierías del Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Apolo 27, ganador del primer lugar del “Systems Safety Award” (Premio de la seguridad del sistema), de la NASA, celebrado en Huntsville, Alabama, Estados Unidos.
Al recibir a los estudiantes, el ministro Franklin García Fermín, le informó que hará una propuesta formal al INTEC para la creación de un programa doctoral especializado en tecnología y mecatrónica, en alianza con universidades extranjeras y cobertura total del MESCYT.
Pero adelantó que otorgará becas con cobertura del 50%, en beneficio de los que todavía no han concluido las carreras que cursan y posteriormente puedan participar en el doctorado, que podría estar impartiéndose para el 2021.
“Ustedes son orgullos nacional, una marca país, con deseo de echar hacia adelante», por ello tienen asegurado su doctorado, con el apoyo financiero del MESCYT, en nombre del presidente Luis Abinader, que está interesado en la educación”, destacó el ministro.
Asimismo, el viceministro en materia de relaciones internacionales, Carlos Mendieta, felicitó a los miembros del equipo, por los grandes aportes que en el presente y el futuro beneficiará a la humanidad, destacando que el MESCYT se encargará de darle continuidad en sus estudios, para que sean parte de un proyecto país.
Mientras que el profesor y Advisor del grupo, Ezequiel Díaz explicó que el concurso reúne a estudiantes y profesores de 111 países del mundo, que buscan llevar a la primera mujer a la luna en año 2024, y consiste en diseñar, construir y probar tecnologías para dispositivos de movilidad en distintos entornos, los cuales podrían ser usados para futuras exploraciones al espacio exterior.
La agrupación ganadora del concurso relativo al Desafío Rover de Exploración Humana de la Administración Nacional de la Aeronáutica y del Espacio (NASA) 2020 está integrada por Matthews Rosario, Julio Núñez, Omar García, Valentín López, José Lara, Leslie Rosario, Jacob Ruiz, Luis Herasme, Raymond Ruiz, Emilio Santos y Manuel Alejandro María.
Se derivó del ras diseño del mejor Sistema de Seguridad para un rover, como son denominados los vehículos que podrían utilizarse en futuras expediciones en planetas, lunas, asteroides y cometas.
Estuvieron presentes el asesor especial del MESCYT, Julio Altagracia; el director del Gabinete, Juan Medina; y la directora general de administración y finanzas, Dory Herrera.
