El incremento de los pasajes se produjo con la intención de compensar las pérdidas económicas de los más de 150,000 choferes del transporte público del Gran Santo Domingo, ya que es necesario el distanciamiento físico y en un vehículo donde iban seis pasajeros ahora solo deben ser cuatro.
Sin embargo, el sacrificio que hacen diariamente cientos de miles de ciudadanos de pagar por el distanciamiento físico tiene un costo mayor en algunas zonas.
En un recorrido por diferentes rutas de concho de la capital se pudo constatar que los cinco pesos estipulados como aumento del pasaje se han doblado y hasta triplicado por algunos choferes.
Durante el primer trayecto, repetido en dos carros distintos pero de la misma ruta y asociación, los choferes pidieron montos diferentes: 35 pesos el primero de ellos y 40 pesos el segundo.
Este trayecto fue desde la 27 de Febrero con Máximo Gómez a la avenida Duarte. Antes de la pandemia, el pasaje era 25 pesos sin aire y 30 con aire.
En un tercer intento por comprobar si se cumplen los protocolos sanitarios y la regulación del pasaje dentro de los concurridos medios de transporte se tomó la misma flotilla, pero esta vez desde la avenida 27 de Febrero hasta las proximidades de la Plaza de la Bandera.
Unos 35 pesos costaba el pasaje antes de la pandemia, ahora en nuestra ruta el cobro fue de RD$45.00.
Al retornar por el mismo sendero, en otro vehículo, el conductor solicitó los RD$40.00, que se supone cuesta el trayecto.
Este último, al ser consultado sobre el porqué sus compañeros cobran más de lo establecido, respondió que hay algunos que son “muy sabios y abusadores”.
La ruta completa de estos conchos abarca desde la avenida Isabela Aguiar hasta terminar en la calle Dr. Betances. Esta es una de las rutas de conchos de mayor demanda. “Siempre tiene gente”, dicen sus usuarios.

Otra de las rutas de concho que han perturbado el bolsillo de la población es la que inicia en la Avenida Nicolás de Ovando y termina en el kilómetro 9 de la autopista Duarte.
Este trayecto tenía una tarifa de RD$35.00 por la que ahora se debe pagar RD$50.00.
Mario Belén, chofer de la ruta desde hace seis años, manifestó que se vieron en la necesidad de aumentarle RD$15.00 al pasaje porque cuatro pasajeros no le “cuadran”.
“Antes hacía 210 pesos y ahora son RD$150 por viaje”, agregó Belén.
De su lado, Luis Guzmán, también chofer de la misma ruta, puntualizó que el pasaje se mantiene a ese precio no solo por la reducción de pasajeros, también por el alto costo de los combustibles.
Guzmán explicó que algunas personas ahora optan por usar el metro de Santo Domingo, acción que calificó de errónea.
“Es un error que elijan el metro en lugar de los carros. No hay ningún distanciamiento ahí”, precisó Guzmán.
Los choferes de esta ruta, conocida como “la ruta del nueve” y que tiene cerca de 100 conductores, coincidieron en que si se normaliza la situación sanitaria reducirían el costo del pasaje.
Estas declaraciones fueron contrariadas por pasajeros que aguardaban dentro de uno de los carros al momento de las entrevistas.
“Eso es muy difícil que los bajen. En este país las cosas después de que las suben nunca vuelven a bajar”, argumentó Esteban Hiciano mientras se quejaba de que los choferes se han aprovechado de la circunstancia y han utilizado la pandemia para su beneficio.

Hiciano confesó que prefiere que vuelvan a montar a los seis pasajeros que admitían los carros antes del impacto de la pandemia para no seguir pagando los RD$50.00 que tiene que invertir diariamente de ida y vuelta.
Ángela Lorenzo, quien se encontraba también en el concho, secundo a Hiciano diciendo que de todos modos van muy “pegados” y aun así pagan 15 pesos de más.

Augusto Paniagua, vicepresidente de la de la Asociación de Propietarios de Carros de la 27 de Febrero (Asoprocavefe), explicó que para evitar la propagación del virus del covid-19 prohibieron que los carros circularan con sus cristales arriba y el aire encendido.
Paniagua dijo, además, que “el mundo jamás en la vida volverá a ser lo que fue antes” y por tanto, aunque se normalice la situación sanitaria el pasaje y cantidad de pasajeros seguirá igual a menos que el gobierno les beneficie con el subsidio del combustible.

Al ser consultado sobre si tienen previsto el aumento del pasaje, el dirigente de los transportistas solo respondió que “uno sabe que todo va a subir, si los combustibles suben”.
