Santo Domingo.- Los Tigres del Licey iniciarán sus entrenamientos el 19 de octubre venidero con miras a la temporada de béisbol invernal 2020-2021 dedicada a la memoria de su expresidente José Manuel Fernández y cuya apertura está pautada para el 15 de noviembre.
La información la ofreció este miércoles el gerente general Junior Noboa, quien identificó al complejo Baseball City, en Boca Chica, como el lugar escogido para los entrenamientos de los Tigres.
El ejecutivo precisó que las prácticas estarán dirigidas desde el inicio por el mánager del Licey, el exjugador venezolano de Grandes Ligas Luis Sojo, quien tiene experiencia en esta materia en la liga invernal de su país y en otros circuitos de verano.
Se prevé que para el inicio de los entrenamientos haya una gran integración de los jugadores de la franquicia, dado que este año se suspendió la temporada de todas las ligas menores del béisbol organizado de Estados Unidos, por la pandemia de coronavirus.
También fueron cancelados los circuitos independientes de béisbol estadounidense, así como la liga veraniega de México, donde participan decenas de jugadores dominicanos.
Además de los Tigres, en el campeonato participarán los Leones del Escogido, Águilas Cibaeñas, Toros del Este, Gigantes del Cibao y Estrellas Orientales.
