El PLD informó que el proceso de consultas a los delegados ante el IX Congreso Ordinario terminó en la tarde del domingo y prometieron dar los resultados en una rueda de prensa en la hora antes indicada.
Los 2,667 delegados empezaron a votar cerca de las 10 de la mañana del domingo, a través de la plataforma en línea del partido opositor.
La Comisión Organizadora del IX Congreso Ordinario José Joaquín Bidó Medina del PLD decidió proponer el aumento de la matrícula del Comité Político debido al aumento de los integrantes del Comité Central luego de las elecciones, que será de unos 1,130 integrantes, lo que implica un incremento de alrededor de un 78%.
Por esa razón sugirieron un aumento también de los miembros del Comité Político en 29 por ciento para tener una matrícula de 43 miembros, a quienes se les agregan el presidente y el secretario general del partido, para un total de 45.
El artículo 23 de sus estatutos establecería que el “Comité Político es el organismo ejecutivo del Comité Central y estará integrado por el Presidente del Partido, el Secretario General más cuarenta y tres (43) miembros plenos”.

El pasado fin de semana, tanto el secretario general del PLD, Reinaldo Pared Pérez, como exembajador José Tomás Pérez, expresaron su rechazo al aumento de la matrícula de ese órgano del partido. Pared Pérez expresó que aumentar la membresía convertiría el Comité Político en un “organismo inoperante”.
Durante el mes de enero, Pared Pérez comunicó que no se repostularía para seguir como secretario general del PLD y pidió no ser considerado para permanecer en el cargo, y que solo se le deje como miembro del Comité Central, ya que por su condición de salud deberá de reducir sus actividades políticas.
