Telefónicas ya aplican reconocimiento facial para activar servicios

Santo Domingo, RD.- Las empresas telefónicas implementan desde el pa­sado sábado la captación y almacenamiento de los datos biométricos facia­les a todas las personas que solicitan la activación de servicios, en atención a una resolución del Institu­to Dominicano de las Tele­comunicaciones (Indotel).

Con ese objetivo han adap­tado sus sistemas y aplican pilotos de ejecución de los nuevos programas instala­dos para la activación.

Esta información fue ofre­cida por la directora ejecu­tiva de la Asociación de Em­presas de Comunicación y Tecnología (Comtec), Clau­dia García, quien manifestó que la resolución del Indo­tel es de cumplimiento obligado y que las empresas se adaptan a la medida.

La empresa Claro, en una nota enviada a los medios, manifestó que implementa el novedoso sistema de validación biométrica facial en sus procesos de activación de líneas móviles.

Desde el pasado fin de se­mana, los clientes de servi­cios de celulares al momen­to de solicitar la activación de una nueva línea móvil deben permitir la captación de su imagen y esta se con­trasta con sus patrones úni­cos de la foto de su cédula para autentificar su identi­dad.

El vicepresidente de Merca­deo y Comunicaciones Cor­porativas de Claro, Omar Acosta, manifestó que la iniciativa tiene como beneficio principal brindar mayor se­guridad a los clientes fren­te a fraudes y robo de identidad, así como desarrollar un proceso que les asegu­re una nueva y mejor expe­riencia, a través de un servicio más ágil y eficiente.

Expuso que la aplicación de la resolución ha conllevado un proceso interno de de­sarrollo de más de un año y que desde hace meses ini­ciaron un piloto en algunos canales de venta para com­probar el buen funciona­miento de la misma y así es­tar listos para la validación biométrica.

La telefónica reafirmó su compromiso con la innova­ción y la transformación di­gital y aseguró que los avan­ces experimentados en la tecnología que aplican ha­cen de la biometría uno de los sistemas de identifica­ción más seguros y eficaces.

Resolución.
El Consejo del Indotel puso en vigor desde el pasado 6 de febrero la resolución 070-19, en la que ordena a las telefó­nicas tomar control del registro de celulares y evitar las activaciones de los equipos robados.

Registro.
Indotel instruye median­te las resoluciones 92-19 y 070-19 a que las em­presas de servicios tele­fónicos lleven un regis­tro de los IMEI de los ce­lulares al momento de ser activados, para de­terminar que este no ha sido robado y a tomar los datos biométricos fa­ciales de las personas que acuden a solicitar activación.

Queja.
Una queja constante de los usuarios de telefonía móvil es la facilidad con que se puede activar un celular robado.
