SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana.- Los equipos campeones de República Dominicana y Puerto Rico, así como de Venezuela y Panamá animarán el choque inaugural de la Serie del Caribe 2021 que se celebrará entre el 31 de enero y el 6 de febrero venideros en el estadio Teodoro Mariscal de Mazatlán, México.
La jornada cerrará ese día con el partido entre las novenas de Colombia y los anfitriones mexicanos, según informó este martes la Confederación de Béisbol Profesional del Caribe (CBPC).
El calendario de la apodada «Pequeña Serie Mundial» continuará el 1 de febrero con los enfrentamientos entre Panamá y Colombia; Venezuela y Puerto Rico, y República Dominicana con México, cuyo equipo siempre jugará a última hora por ser el país sede de esa versión.
Los equipos continuarán jugando entre sí hasta el 5 de febrero, cuando se celebrarán los partidos de semifinales a cargo de los conjuntos que ocuparon el primer y el cuarto puestos y los que finalizaron en la segunda y la tercera posiciones.
El equipo campeón de la Serie del Caribe será el vencedor del choque que el 6 de febrero enfrente a los conjuntos que superaron las semifinales.
Toros del Este, de República Dominicana, es el monarca de la última serie, que se disputó en Puerto Rico en febrero pasado y que representó el vigésimo campeonato para ese país.
La Confederación de Béisbol Profesional del Caribe, que preside el dominicano Juan Francisco Puello Herrera, aún no decide si la Serie del Caribe de Mazatlán se jugará con público en las gradas.
